Antenatal Clinic

Asthma Clinic and COPD Clinic
Run by our practice nurses who are experienced and trained in the diagnosis and management of respiratory disease. Annual check-ups are advised for all patients with asthma and COPD for monitoring, advice, inhaler use and any other query can be discussed.
Breast Screening
This service is offered to women aged between 47 and 73 years. You will receive your first screening invitation by letter after your 47th birthday and prior to your 50th birthday. After this you will receive an appointment every 3 years until you are 73. After the age of 73 you can refer yourself directly on 01392 262600. The mobile unit is situated at the Estuary Car Park in Exmouth at various dates throughout the year.
Cervical Smears
Run by our practice nurses. All women who are registered with a GP are invited for cervical screening: aged 25 to 49 every 3 years and 6 months and all women aged 50-64 every 5 years and 6 months. Women over 65 will also be invited if they have not been screened since age 50 or those who have recently had abnormal tests.
There are many early stages of cervical cancer and if picked up early they are curable with simple treatment. You will be informed by letter when your next test is due.
We are pleased to be able to offer an evening clinic for those unable to make daytime appointments.
Diabetic Clinic
Run by our Practice Nurses. The aim of this clinic is to achieve good control of diabetes and prevent complications by providing regular check-ups and education.
Family Planning
Dr Charu Bowen is our Family Planning expert, however, advice is available from either a doctor or a practice nurse on all aspects of family planning including oral contraception, coil fitting and emergency contraception. We offer regular contraception clinics.
Learning Disability Checks
We offer annual health checks for our patients with learning disabilities. You will be sent an appointment via the post and also receive a follow up phone call to confirm the appointment.
Minor Surgery
Dr Amy Todd and Dr Alex Gillies are qualified to provide minor surgery services. Minor Surgery Clinics are available at the Practice and can be booked via the reception team after an initial consulation with the Doctor.
Social Prescribing Link Workers
They can support individuals to access statutory & voluntary services, groups, & activities that can help improve their mental health, as well as their social wellbeing.
They give people time and space to focus on what matters to them, taking a holistic approach, based on the persons priorities & wider health needs.
It will especially help people who:
- Have one or more long term health condition.
- Have had a recent health diagnosis & need help to connect with relevant support.
- Have low level mental health needs, are lacking in confidence, have low self-esteem.
- Are feeling lonely or isolated & would like support to get out & meet others.
- Are a carer in need of advice or support.
- Would like to improve their physical health & fitness.
- Are a parent who would like help to access groups & support services for either themselves or their child.
Social Prescribing Link Workers can help by connecting people to:
- Social community groups & activities such as craft, gardening, singing, woodwork, bus trips.
- The gym, fitness classes, yoga, walking groups.
- Learning & training opportunities.
- Associations & charities that can support & give advice around dementia, cancer, strokes, & Parkinson’s disease.
- Signposting to specialist advice services for financial difficulties & benefit checks.
- Food banks & local larders.
- Social care support, onward referrals to community rehab team, fire service & home safety checks.
- Playgroups, children & young person’s support groups & sign posting to other services.
Smoking Cessation
Run by our Health Care Assistants who are fully trained to offer advice to patients who want to stop smoking.
Vaccinations
Childhood Immunisations - You will be sent an appointment by post when your child is due for their immunisations. These are offered at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age, at one year, as well as pre-school age. If you are unable to attend the appointment, please phone for an alternative date/time.
Holiday vaccinations – we only provide vaccinations offered by the NHS. We advise you to contact Lewis Pharmacy Travel Clinic on 01395 272714 for a risk assessment. We can offer appointments throughout the week should you need an NHS vaccination but we do not provide a service for private travel vaccinations.
Flu Clinics are carried out in the autumn of each year. It is recommended that if you are over 65 or suffer from diabetes, asthma, bronchial problems or heart and kidney trouble you should be vaccinated annually. Children aged 2, 3 and 4, and those in primary school years one, two and three are offered a nasal flu spray.
Pneumonia vaccination is recommended for those aged 65 and over, and also for those ‘at risk’.
We also offer shingles clinics for those that are eligible.
