Repeat Prescriptions

If you are on regular medication and your Doctor feels that your medicines can be repeated without seeing you each time, you will be given a computer repeat prescription slip.

• Either hand in or post your prescription request to the surgery, ticking the items you require, allowing forty-eight hours for your medication to be ready for collection at the surgery or the chemist of your choice.
• Should you wish to collect from a chemist, please make sure that you tick the appropriate box on the repeat slip.

If you require any medication which is not on your computerized prescription, please add this clearly on the request slip and this will be added to your medication, after verification from your doctor.

It is practice policy that PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS WILL NOT BE TAKEN OVER THE PHONE as this blocks the telephone line for urgent calls and also increases the risk of errors being made.

If you have more than one repeat medicine, please ensure that you order all the items together.

PLEASE REMEMBER We require 48 hours notice for repeat prescriptions.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
